Membrane push buttons

Keytouch has developed the KeyTOP membrane push button, combining the benefits of traditional mechanical push buttons with the advantages of membrane switches. The KeyTOP features a raised design, offering superior mechanical travel and pressure sensitivity, with a range of compressive forces from low to high. It is available in various shapes, sizes, and layouts, and can be backlit using Elfilm or LED for added functionality. 

KeyTOP can be customized with fixed or exchangeable text, providing an exclusive appearance and enhancing user satisfaction.

Embossed details

Keytouch offers customized embossing on all of our graphic overlays. This feature enhances the uniqueness of a membrane switch, helping operators easily identify switch positions and differentiate between buttons. Embossing additional elements, such as your company logo, further personalizes your equipment and adds to its distinctiveness.

Silicone rubber keypads
Keytouch designs custom silicone rubber keypads tailored to customer specifications, which can be integrated into membrane switches or operator panels. These keypads offer flexibility in design, with customizable rubber, symbols, and text in any color. The keys can vary in movement and pressure resistance.
Electrical Solutions
The keypads can feature carbon vulcanized on the back for direct contact with the PCB or be used to cover membrane switches with metal domes.
Backlighting
Backlit keypads use transparent silicone with color coatings, where symbols and text are illuminated using laser etching or chemical erosion, ensuring visibility in the dark. Multiple color options are available, and backlighting is combined with Duracoating for enhanced durability.
Coating Options
Keypads come with several coatings for increased resistance:

  • Duracoating: Protects key top printing with excellent abrasion, oil, and solvent resistance, available in gloss or matte.
  • Encap: A liquid polymer coating that provides a rigid plastic finish, available in gloss or matte.
  • Plastic Key Tops: Molded plastic key tops combine the benefits of both silicone rubber and plastic keypads.

These keypads offer customizable design, durability, and functionality to meet various customer needs.

LED indicators

LED indicators integrated into the membrane panel are an ideal choice for several reasons:

  • Bright and highly visible, even in direct sunlight
  • Adjustable color, controlled by input signals (using RGB LEDs) or a single color option
  • Fully dimmable from 0 to 100%
  • Extremely thin, with a thickness as low as 0.35mm
  • Operates reliably in extreme temperatures

These LED components are securely attached to the membrane circuit layer using conductive adhesive and encapsulated beneath the protective underlay for durability.

Backllighting options

Keytouch offers three types of backlighting options for your product:

  1. LED
    • High brightness and multi-color options

    • No inverter needed
  2. Elfilm
    • Even light distribution over large surfaces
    • Very thin and flexible
    • Available in white and green
    • No heat dissipation
  3. Fiber
    • Uniform lighting over large areas
    • Only one LED required

    • No heat dissipation
    • EMC safe

Touch pad

A capacitive touch sensor can be seamlessly integrated into a panel.

Insertible legends

A series of similar membrane switches can be created using a single set of artwork by inserting legend strips into designated pockets beneath the transparent areas of the top layer of the membrane switch.

Our glue dispensing robot ensures precise sealing, safeguarding fissures and transitions against fluids and particles, while providing a smoother, more durable finish.

Antibacterial film

When bacteria come into contact with Autotex AM, the antimicrobial properties of the film inhibit cell reproduction, preventing further bacterial growth.
Made from a hard-coated polyester film with integrated antimicrobial protection, Autotex AM is ideal for surfaces where hygiene is critical. It works by reducing the spread of bacteria between users.
This film is suitable for use on front panels, membrane switches, and any surface exposed to frequent human contact.

Windows

Displays can be integrated by adding a window to your membrane overlay. The membrane’s surface finish can feature a transparent window or a filter window, while other areas may have a textured surface. Additionally, the window can be equipped with EMI/RFI shielding for enhanced protection.

Mounting plates

Keytouch also provides membrane switches mounted on rigid backplates or bezels, which can include threaded studs or stand-offs for easy installation.

Interfase/Communication

Keytouch specializes in the development, design, and manufacturing of operator panels with a wide range of communication interfaces, including:

  • Industrial buses (ProfiBUS, ProfiNET, CANopen, DeviceNet, Modbus-TCP, Ethernet/IP)
  • Connections to PCs or PLCs via USB, LAN, WiFi, and Serial (RS232, 422, 485)
  • Radio-Link and Direct IO for hardwired signals

Additionally, Keytouch offers ready-to-use USB encoder cards, including options for analog inputs (Joysticks) and keyboard/trackball encoding. Custom PCB development is also available if needed.

EMC Tested solutions

EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) ensures that electronic devices function properly without causing interference to nearby devices or being affected by them. Keytouch products are designed to meet the EMC requirements of relevant classification organizations, drawing on extensive experience with classified products in both maritime and military sectors.
